April 2015 Update
Management went forward with the consolidation of the Minot, ND facility and the partial consolidation of the Duluth, MN facility on April 18th.
In Minot, the mail has, for the most part, been relocated to Bismarck. I say “for the most part” because exactly what mail is being processed in Minot seems to shift on a day-to-day basis. One of our Mail Handlers has begun working in Bismarck, while another has transferred to the carrier craft. ND State Executive Board Member Brock Engstrom has recently spent a couple of days in Minot addressing and contesting several issues.
Although all mail processing was scheduled to be removed from Duluth on April 18th, only the originating mail was sent to the St. Paul facility. The date on which the destinating mail will leave Duluth remains unknown. I’ve recently been in Duluth for a Branch Meeting as well as a labor-management meeting. In addition, MN State Executive Board Member Shane Ryden has been in Duluth addressing issues and supporting our people. All of our Mail Handlers currently remain in the facility.
The results in the gaining facilities of Bismarck, ND and St. Paul, MN can be described with a single word, confusion.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to see that the contractual rights of all impacted Mail Handlers are respected.
