May 2015 Update
The delay of further consolidations until 2016 has given us some breathing room as we continue to advocate for the restoration of service standards and for maintaining the mail processing network. In addition to addressing the consolidations through the grievance procedure, Local 323 has been heavily engaged in lobbying our Congressional representatives and informing the public on Postal issues.
During the second week of May the NPMHU held the 2015 legislative conference. During this conference Mail Handlers from across the country traveled to Washington, D.C. in order to meet with their Congressional representatives regarding the Postal issues that are important to our future. Local 323 was represented at this conference by Vice President Kathleen Schultz and North Dakota State Executive Board Member Brock Engstrom.
Local 323 was also present at a recent rally in Duluth regarding the planned consolidation of that facility. Congressman Nolan as well as several Union representatives addressed the crowd. In attendance for Local 323 were Duluth Chief Steward LeeAnn Johnson, Vice President Kathy Schultz, and me.
